Heartfulness

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly.  What is essential is indivisible to the eye.

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

2 small boys holding hands: heartfulness

Heartfulness can be thought of as compassionate mindfulness, or mindfulness of heart.  We cultivate it in the same way we cultivate mindfulness: through consciously practicing compassion, joy for others, happiness and equanimity in our lives.

Though mindfulness and heartfulness are the same, using the word “heartfulness” reminds us to move our attention and energy from our over-used heads to the gentle heart.

Heartfulness asks us to soften, to open, to make and leave space for self-forgiveness and self-nurturing.

Eventually what we do is simple. We surrender into the heart, into life as it is, just now, just here.
